Study Economics in the UK

Anglia Foundation has sent students to Britain to do the following courses:

ECONOMICS

-At the London School of Economics and Political Science

The Economics Department is regularly ranked number one outside of the USA for its published research in economics and econometrics and in 2008 the national Research Assessment Exercise assessed LSE Economics as the best single department in any major discipline. As an undergraduate in the Department, you will have the chance to learn from economists at the cutting edge of their field.

The economics programmes at LSE aim to provide students with a thorough grounding in the analytical methods of economics and to develop their skills in applying these methods to a diverse range of problems, both microeconomic and macroeconomic, in analysing and constructing complex arguments and in communicating these effectively.

The BSc Economics programme provides a well rounded coverage of the economics discipline.

-At the University of Glasgow

In studying economics you will learn how individuals and society make choices about how scarce resources are used, what products are produced and who gets to consume them. These choices depend on evaluating costs, benefits, risks and effects on others. The constraints affecting these choices are many and include income, technology, natural resources and time.

  • 90% of the Economics graduates are in work or further study (Unistats 2010).
  • You will be taught by some of the best researchers in this field, who are ranked top in Scotland for research, in the most recent independent survey of research quality (RAE 2008).

All students study the principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics, but there is also a great deal of choice within our programmes. You will have the opportunity to develop an interest in fields such as government policy, developing countries, the economics of business, and international trade and finance.
